BT and GENBAND Win Prestigious Industry Award for Joint Implementation IP Infrastructure
This year’s Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards were presented at a black-tie dinner at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel in central London. GENBAND (News - Alert), a leading developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, and British Telecommunications plc (BT), one of the world's largest communications services providers, were among the high profile telecom innovators that received awards at the evening of June 12.
The GTB Innovation Awards have been designed to honor ground-breaking projects, involving telecom operators and service providers around the world.
The two companies have been recognized for their joint innovation and implementation of IP infrastructure that enables operational cost reductions, investment protection, and improved customer experience for fixed and mobile carriers worldwide, according to a press release.
Through its wholesale arm BT (News - Alert) Wholesale, BT provides traditional and next generation services and managed solutions to over 1,300 mobile and fixed line operators, internet services providers, broadcast organizations, and resellers in the UK. The company’s popular Global IP Interconnect service also enables the fixed-line operators, mobile-network operators, VoIP providers, and other operators worldwide to transport global voice traffic seamlessly.
Powered by GENBAND's IP interconnect solutions, this service is used to significantly reduce time to market for the launch of new services and expansion projects. It also facilitates extensive interworking between all nodes and signaling protocols.
BT has been leveraging GENBAND's IP Interconnect solution since the fourth quarter of 2011 to deliver its IP Interconnect services to the UK and global wholesale customers, serving the needs of fixed and mobile customers in the UK and in more than 170 countries. Powered by GENBAND, BT’s enhanced IP Interconnect services provide access to PSTN for other global tier 1 and tier 2 carriers. The solution is comprised of GENBAND's S3 Intelligent Session Border Controllers, G9 Converged Media Gateways, and C3 (News - Alert) Gateway Controllers.
“This global deployment with BT supports innovative offerings for the world's mission-critical carriers while reducing network costs, expanding markets and interworking with the growing volume of peering and managed interconnect services. We are delighted Global Telecoms Business has recognized this collaboration with BT, which enables continued support of revenue generating legacy services, while capping operator investment in aging technology,” GENBAND's President of Global Sales and Marketing Mark Pugerude (News - Alert), explained in a statement.
Earlier this month, BT launched Assure Analytics - a new security data analysis service which helps organizations collect, arrange and evaluate big data sets, presenting them in visually insightful ways which can improve decision-making. It enables businesses to make informed, split-second decisions and develop effective long-term policies to govern their use of resources and response to potential risks and security threats across their infrastructure and operations.Want to learn more about the latest in communications and technology?
