PortaOne, PROTEI Extend Relationship
PortaOne (News - Alert) and PROTEI have completed interoperability testing between their respective solutions. This new compatibility provides Mobile Virtual Network Operators with a complete solution subscriber service management. In fact, it can even enable MVNOs to launch their own mobile networks.
"Today's announcement gives MVNOs and MVNEs an even more robust infrastructure solution for intelligent network services," said Vladimir Freinkman, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at PROTEI, which is based in Russia. "As markets change and service possibilities evolve, providers need the ability to implement products and services that match both internal and competitive requirements.”
The marriage of the PortaOne Inc. and PROTEI solutions make that possible, added Freinkman. Those solutions include the PortaBilling Business Support System and PROTEI's Home Location Register HLR/HSS and Policy Controller PCRF products.
An HLR/HSS is key element of any mobile network. And Policy Controller regulates policy and charging parameters of subscribers in 3G and 4G LTE (News - Alert) networks. That enables service providers to automate bandwidth control, QoS assignment, control of data transfer quotas, and more in line with business requirements.
As for PortaBilling, it provides real-time billing, provisioning, and customer management for prepaid, postpaid, wholesale and retail telecom services. It synchronizes SIM card inventory and subscriber information with HLR, as well as policy and service quality parameters with Policy Controller, to ensure instantaneous service activation, efficient network usage, and correct charging.
PortaOne explains that “when a customer signs up for a service, he is provisioned in Portabilling as a customer with one (or more) accounts understands. Each account represents an actual phone line, and is assigned a phone number and associated with a SIM card. Once the account is active, PortaBilling connects to HLR and creates an entry for the SIM card/MSISDN. Now, when the customer inserts the SIM card and powers on the phone, he can register to the network.”
This new interoperability announcement between PortaOne and PROTEI is just the latest joint effort between these companies. Last year, PROTEI and PortaOne announced interoperability between the PortaBilling BSS and PROTEI's CAMEL Gateway (News - Alert) and DPI Platform.
