Welcome back to this week’s Chat with Nat! VoIP Innovations (News - Alert) has had a few exciting things going on this week and we have even more to look forward to next week. As you know, we always keep busy by looking at what we can do to stay ahead of the curve. One way that we do this is by holding annual planning sessions where we develop yearly and quarterly goals for our company. Yesterday and today the masterminds behind VoIP Innovations have been diligently working to create next year’s strategic plan. Later next week we’ll have a blog post that outlines more about the processes we go through to make these sessions run smoothly and productively. Some other exciting news from this week is that our office expansion project is almost complete! We’ve been under construction since around April of this year and it’s safe to say that the final product was well worth the wait. We’ve added new offices, a new call center, space for more employees, a new kitchen and new conference rooms. We’re just waiting for the finishing touches to be completed before our Open House on Friday, November 1st. Part of the finishing touches include wall art that we designed to make the office feel more like home.
Let me tell you a little bit about the articles we posted on our blog this week, and then I’ll fill you in on what things we have coming up next. It seems like almost every week we’re coming out with a new or updated feature in our BackOffice. That’s because we get great feedback from our customers and internal departments who work in the BackOffice every day. Since the outside world doesn’t really know what’s all involved in creating a new feature, we thought that would make a nice blog series. We broke the process down into two parts: Part One was posted this week and covers what the feature goes through from the initial request to when it is deployed. Part Two, which will be posted next week, explores what happens after a feature is deployed.
This week we also featured a great Guest Post on Making the Most of a SIP Trunk. The author, Matt Paulson, wrote a high level explanation on how SIP Trunks actually work. He then started exploring some of the great advantages that SIP Trunks possess. The top three advantages he mentioned were high audio quality, long distance and international calling options and cost savings.
As I mentioned earlier, looking ahead to next week we’ll have the in-depth article on our planning sessions, as well at Part Two of the development lifecycle series. We’ll also be featuring another Guest Post on Calculating VoIP ROI. You might remember from last week that we started displaying the names of our termination and origination carriers in our BackOffice. We’ll be posting an article with more information on that and how releasing information like this is the kind of transparency that the market wants to see from organizations.
Last, but not least, I want to mention that next week our Executive Team will be attending the 2013 Gazelles Growth Summit in Las Vegas. They will spend two days listening to renowned speakers and learning techniques that they can bring back to help grow the staff and the organization. The Executive Team attends these summits twice a year and they always prove to be amazing experiences full of information just waiting to be put to use.
