VoIP Innovations Participates in 2013 Strategic Planning Sessions
December brings us many things. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is among us, the final quarter draws to a close, many businesses are preparing year-end reports and thoughts of the upcoming New Year are in our heads. Many people take the time to reflect, both personally and professionally, on the past year and look forward to 2013. On a more personal level, many look at what they have accomplished over the year to make new goals or resolutions for 2013. Businesses, on the other hand, may write up year-end reports and analyze numbers to determine their goals for the upcoming year.
At VoIP Innovations (News - Alert), we do all of those things. We use the ideals adopted from our parent company, ABG Capital, to enhance our work and personal lives. Our ideals are to cultivate ideas and people through our C.O.R.E. (Cultivate, Overcome, Respect, and Evolve) Values for the purpose of giving back. To Cultivate, we encourage and support a healthy life balance for each employee; we Overcome obstacles by combining passion and perseverance to achieve success; we believe that Respect is achieved by earning mutual trust and exhibiting reliability, and we encourage our employees to Evolve by embracing the ability to adapt and innovate.
Our employees utilize these ideals personally in many ways. We participate in various community service activities throughout the year, where we are given an opportunity to give back to our community. Some of these activities include volunteering at food banks, fundraising for Make-A-Wish and cleaning headstones at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
In addition to giving back, employees are also encouraged to maintain healthy lifestyles. We do an annual Biggest Loser contest, where interested employees weigh-in on Fridays and the biggest loser receives a cash reward. Also, we bring in an inspirational speaker/author in on a regular basis to educate our team about healthy eating habits.
In terms of business, we take our goals very seriously. Every year around this time, VoIP Innovations participates in Strategic Planning Sessions, where goals for the upcoming quarters are discussed and strategized. These two-day sessions employ strategic planning and executive education learned at the Gazelles leadership summit. ABG Capital sends key employees from each portfolio company to the Gazelles Growth and Leadership Summits to gain valuable growth and leadership education. This education, along with a gazelles coach, enables ABG Capital and its portfolio companies to build solid annual strategic plans.
These plans are geared toward solving four common pain points: people, strategy, execution and cash. Each annual plan, comprised of key initiatives, is broken down into four quarters. Each quarter is further broken down into big rocks, assigned a due date and a person who is accountable. Each company chooses their key metrics to monitor and measure as well as a quarterly theme and celebration. This year, VoIP Innovations has chosen a Terminator theme to go along with the goal of doubling its SIP Termination service.
“We are kicking off the first quarter of 2013 by releasing our very own two to three minute Terminator film along with Terminator items decorating the office,” explains Jason Tapolci, president of VoIP Innovations. “If we reach our goals, the team will celebrate by taking a trip to a local firing range to test our Terminator skills.”
