What is Wholesale VoIP?

It’s safe to say that VoIP is dominating the telecom market, where various services and industries continue to grow and flourish. Specifically, the U.S. market for VoIP dramatically advanced starting in 2006, where almost four million VoIP households were added in this year alone.

Meanwhile, competitive carriers continue to seek different and innovative ways to generate revenue to reflect this exploding technology, as wholesale VoIP revenue has grown accordingly. Despite this, they must first find a way to profitably deliver VoIP in a wholesale market.

Customers most typically associated with wholesale VoIP include service providers who are looking to gain a competitive advantage and break into the lowest prices on the most powerful solutions on the market.

 Service providers looking to deliver VoIP to an extensive customer base – usually one consisting primarily of other service providers, enterprises and residential customers – find entering the wholesale VoIP market to be very advantageous. Reselling IP telephony as a wholesale VoIP company is becoming increasingly popular in today’s day and age, where it is most preferred and well-known for hitting a “sweet spot” between profit and market control.

Some terms commonly associated with wholesale VoIP can include wholesale DID (direct inbound dialing) origination and wholesale SIP termination. Wholesale DID origination typically provides customers with access to numbers worldwide, as well as the ability to customize service packages by individual DID, which provides maximum flexibility for interoperability with wholesale CNAM caller ID storage, T.38 faxing, E911 emergency services and more.
