Galaxy Visions' Subsidiary ColoGuard in Pact with IPsmarx Technology for VoIP Server Hosting
August 30, 2011 By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor
ColoGuard, a subsidiary of GalaxyVisions and provider of enterprise colocation services, announced a partnership with VoIP provider IPsmarx (News - Alert) Technology to extend its presence in the fast-growing segment of Internet telephony.
The partnership gives IPsmarx's customers access to ColoGuard's fast, direct network routes to cities around the world and to parent company GalaxyVisions' world-class dedicated managed services.
Further, the partnership allows VoIP service providers who work with IPsmarx to be able to offer the clearest calls possible to their customers around the world, according to company officials.
ColoGuard’s service addresses the concerns associated with Internet telephone service, especially those pertaining to inefficient network routing and latency. ColoGuard’s network routes reach most foreign countries in under 10 hops and well below the 300ms latency threshold, so it promises crystal-clear VoIP conversations.
Additionally, ColoGuard offers separate network segments provisioned specifically for VoIP clients, the company said.
"ColoGuard is well known in the industry for its excellent service, and GalaxyVisions for its fast hardware and software installations, and responsive customer support," said Ashley Kurpel of IPsmarx. "With their focus on VoIP, we're able to offer our customers the best quality of service at the lowest possible price."
"We are pleased to work with IPsmarx, offering award-winning billing and switching solutions to VoIP Service Providers in over 65 countries and superior technical support," said ColoGuard Vice President Ruben Magurdumov in a statement.
CologGuard's 15,000-square-foot Brooklyn data center features dedicated power lines from multiple providers as well as high-capacity generators and robust security features like biometric scanners with pass-card access, mantraps at the main entry, fully archived video surveillance and 24/7/365 onsite monitoring and support.
Back in April ColoGuard launched ColoGuard Enterprise Colocation Solutions to focus on offering Tier-1 server colocation and fully managed colocation services to further meet expanding client needs.

- The Advantages of Using SIP Trunks over a PRI from the Phone Company: A Primary Rate Interface (PRI) is the basic connection used by phone companies that allow multiple voice and data paths to share a common circuit. The PRI consists of 23 B channels, which carry voice and data, and 1 D channel, which carries signaling data for the other 23 channels. This ratio is fixed and channels must be added in multiples of 23 should you need to add more. Each PRI requires data communication hardware on either end.
- VoIP and Business Continuity: An organization's communication system is the most important aspect of any business continuity plan. Without an effective method for people to communicate with one other, all other activities become moot.
- What is a SIP trunk?: A SIP trunk is a data connection that utilizes Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) and carries voice over IP (VoIP) traffic. The SIP trunk defines the connection between two voice switches and can carry multiple VoIP calls simultaneously. The trunk is then divided into logical pathways, called channels. Each channel carries one voice conversation.
